Sergeant Terry Morrow

Sergeant Morrow began working for the Tyler Police Department in June of 1980, has been a Sergeant since 1988, and is currently assigned to the Integrity Unit. Prior to this assignment, Sgt. Morrow supervised a substation and property crimes investigative unit for many years. He served in the Patrol Division as a supervisor and also spent three years as the department's Public Information Officer.

Sgt. Morrow holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from William Patterson University of New Jersey, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at Tyler, a Master Peace Officer Certificate, a TCLEOSE Instructor's Certificate, and is a graduate of the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Command College of Texas. He has been a negotiator on the T.P.D. Crisis Negotiation Team since 1994 and is currently the Commander of the team. He is in his fifth-two year term as a member of the board of the Texas Association of Hostage Negotiators, currently serving as Vice President of Region II, and is past president of the organization. He is a member of the East Texas Critical Incident Stress Management Team, and was part of a local team that responded to the World Trade Center Ground Zero site as peer counselors in the aftermath of the 9/11 attack. Sgt. Morrow instructs at the Tyler Junior College Police Academy, was a part-time instructor of Criminal Justice at Tyler Junior College for several years, teaches the TCLEOSE Instructors Certification Class, and led a team that developed and taught a Crisis Intervention Training curriculum for all Tyler P.D. officers. Sgt. Morrow is also a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course and Leadership Tyler Class XI. He is a recipient of the 1999 East Texas Crisis Center Hope Award, and currently serves on the Crisis Center Board of Directors. He has been a United Way Loaned Executive since 1999, received the Loaned Executive of the Year award in 2001, served as Chair of the Loaned Executives for 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 and is currently an advisory board member of 2-1-1 of East Texas. Other community service includes being a past board member of the Tyler-Smith County FEMA-EFSP, and a past member of the board of the Literacy Council of Tyler. Sgt. Morrow is a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner, and is an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville.
