Doug Thurston
Federal Bureau of Prisons
Doug has been employed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons for 15 years. Within this time frame, he has been involved within various aspects of Crisis Management such as being a member of Special Operations Response Team, the Assistant Team Leader of the Disturbance Control Team and has been involved with the Hostage Negotiation Team since 1999. He is currently the team leader of the Metroplex Hostage Negotiation Team which consists of 17 members who are responsible for six institutions in the South Central Region. He is also a Lead Resource Instructor for the National Hostage Negotiation Team.
Prior to working for the Federal Bureau of Prison he was employed with the Colorado State Patrol as a State Trooper for six years. During that time he served as a member of the Special Emergency Response Team.
Doug serves as an advisor on the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Hostage Negotiators.
